Another year over, it happened so quickly. I had an amazing 2009. I hope you did too. I love Dublin Hardcore.
End of year review. Lets do it.

The first hardcore show of the year was The Effort in the Boom Boom Room. I remember it being decent but kinda poorly attended. Worst fucking venue.

Next up was The Carrier from Boston. Such an incredible band and a good show.
Here is a video:

Unless im completely wrong we recorded the Famine album in January. I always enjoy recording so it was a good time.

The Blind recorded a Demo early in 09 and it came out in February. It ruled. The Blind get better and better everytime i see them and they are the best dudes. Here is the Demo if you dont have it.
You can pick up their new EP at shows or from them.

In March Find A Way played in The Hide Away house. It was being filmed for TV and myself and Zach did an interview and shit before the show. It was well funny. It was one of my favourite Find a Way shows for sure. Here is a video.

On the 14th of March i went to see Kris Roe from The Ataris playing acoustic. There was like 10 people there but it ruled anyway.

a couple of days after that show Find a Way headed to the UK for a few shows with Break The Habit and Cutting Class. I had the best time. Jack drove and Mac Kell did merch and Glenn came along to make sure Mac Kell was doing the business, haha. oh Rich Clarke came along and all. All the shows ruled. haha i got picked up while we played in southampton, it was beyond funny. Oh really ah came out to the show in Leeds which was cool. Gleen flipped off the roof of the van. Highlight of the tour was playing table tennis and meeting the fastest kid in Wales haha.

In April Gravemaker made the trip to Dublin. They are a really good band and really nice guys. The thing that sticks out about the show is the security not letting people into the venue if they were not buying alcohol. It was ridiculous.

Outbreak played a last minute show in Dublin and derry filled in on drums for them. the show ruled. It was one of the first shows in the tap. One of my favourite venues in Dublin. Pity we cant use it anymore.

Bane played in Radio city in April making their first trip to Ireland. Show ruled.

50 Lions played at the end of april. They were so awesome. Forced Out played their first show at this. The demo ruled and they are some of my best friends! Im pretty sure the Find a Way 7 inch came out at this.

This Is Hell also played in April. i remember having fun at this show. good band. i wish i had more videos to post. where did you go ralph?? haha.

the Famine album came out in may. Cheers if you picked one up.

The release weekend was easily the most fun i have ever had.
Lees house show was my highlight for sure.

our friends in Locked in made the trip over for the shows. best dudes.

In the Middle of May Famine flew to germany for a few shows. We played in Berlin with New Bruises. Jena with Ritual, then we played a bunch of shows with Bitter End and True Colors. They were sweet. Best dudes. Jon broke his leg moshing to Bitter end and somehow managed to play a show the next day. What a hero. But it meant he couldnt come on the tour we were about to leave on. Rory ended up filling in last minute.

Ruiner played in Dublin the night before we left for tour. The show was so good. Ruiner were the first touring band i put on and to this day they are one of my favourite bands. Pick up the new record if you have not already.

The next morning we hit the ferry with Jack and Gav along for the ride and we had a sweet time. The uk didnt suck. I know, haha. I cant even remember were we played. a bunch of places. Then we went to italy and had the best time. All the shows were awesome and we met back up with our friends in locked in! Napo put us up in his house and cooked for us every day. Italy is so beautiful.

The dudes from To Kill came out to the show in Rome and it was great to see them. I cant even describe what rome is like. Its such an amazing place.

After the show in Rome we had like a 2 day drive back to Dublin but we made it in time for Lauras birthday dinner. hell yeah.

Betrayed played in June and The Mongoloids, New Morality and No Turning Back played in July all of those shows were decent.

Have Heart, Shipwreck and Rise and Fall also played in July.
It was one of the best shows of the year. 3 of my favourite bands on the 1 show in Dublin doesnt happen very often. The hangouts ruled.

Next up was The Wonder Years. I met the dudes at the airport and we headed back to the local. We got some pizza and hung out until the show in Dorans. it was awesome.

The next day we headed to Portlaoise for the show. It was a good time. we took a picture for the local paper. there were kids in nirvana shirts at the show. we drove back to Dublin after the show and partied in the local. We ended up on the beach at 3am sitting on the roof of the killiney baths looking out at the sea. it ruled. The next morning we dropped the dudes at the airport and they flew to Russia. Fast forward a few days and i was back at the airport meeting the dudes. There was a last minute show with TWY and All or Nothing in the tap. it was incredible. Thats all i can say really. i wish there was videos.

Agnostic Front was in August. it was cool to see so many new faces. it was a cool show to play.

Ieperfest was awesome this year. Its always nice to get away and have a laugh with the lads. So many good bands. Good times! I sat at the Hurry Up! Distro for so long haha. Terror were amazing!

In September i moved into the Harcore Hotel haha, with Liamy, Glenn, Nelly and Panda. I love living here and im having the best time with the lads. Come hang out with us.

Right after we moved in ON came to ireland for a couple of shows. I listened to this band a lot in 09 and they ruled live.

After that Famine and Frustration headed off on tour. It was the best tour so far. Scotland, England, Wales, France, Belgium, Austria, Holland and Poland. It ruled. Poland was an experience haha. The girl in Norwich didnt give us a place to stay so the dudes got beers and we stayed in a services, it was so funny. We played in Lille in France and it was cool. Lee crashed into some dude that was parked in a stupid spot. it was the dudes own fault. Holland was also cool, we played in the giant skate park. The dudes from new morality came out so that was cool.
We had an over night drive to poland. The show was upstairs in a cinema which was cool. The show was 200 dudes killing each other. So funny. Robbie wentto hospital that night and had to get injections in his arse, looked so painful. The show in Poznan was my favourte. people sang along and went mental. i love poland. Last show in Poland was in Nowy Targ. It was a cool show.

The Famine LP and the Frustration 7 Inch were out in time for this tour. The frustration 7 inch is soooo awesome. The released the record in October i think. The release show was beyond awesome.

The first show in the exchange happened in there somewhere. Find a Way were awesome at it.

Have they fixed your head yet Gav??
The blind ep launch in exchange also ruled.

We had a house party for my birthday i had a class time, thanks if you made it out.

At the start of December i went to Newport to hang out and see Ruiner and Fireworks. Both bandsare so good.

Madball played a few weeks ago. it was so packed. RTTM were so fucking good and Madball were incredible.

Holy shit that took so long.

So overall 2009 was a fucking busy year. But it was a good year. I got to know a lot of great people. Lets hope 2010 is just as good. Im off to Ciaras now. Happy New Year.

so as you may or may not know i know longer have a computer. that makes it near impossible to update this blog. but anyway here we go. the famine and frustration tour was so awesome. there was 2 shit show and the rest were totally awesome. poland was for sure the highlight, i cant even discribe how awesome it was. im dying to get back out on tour. just before tour i moved out, im living in kimmage with the lads and it rules. my birthday came and went and it was awesome. cheers if you made it out to the party. young wolves recorded a bunch of new songs. im stoked on how they turned out. famine have a couple of new songs. i will post the lyrics in a few minutes. cheers if you still read this.

Why dont you kick me when im down like the rest of this fuckin town, you stand there with a heart of stone telling tales of lost love and regret. You knew how hard it was for me to open up, you knew better than most what i grew up with, how love never filled these walls, but that didnt change a single time, im so close to the edge right now that i can see the end of everything and the end of nothing. These roads go on and on but i only go on for so long, this candle is burning out.

This Is Winter

Summer is done!
Winter is here!
Lets write some songs!

January 2009
I was never good at keeping secrets but i always kept yours
every now and then i wonder if you ever think about me the way i think about you
I still remember that January night when we stood in the snow and i wanted to say so much more than nothing
I will admit that i never fought for us and that if i could go back i probably would
But that doesnt really change anything does it?
You see i grew up with these kids and im gonna grow old with them
So i guess this is my saying goodbye

This Is Finglas
In times of war when all you have is yourself to rely on and the rain becomes the most constant thing in your life try to keep your conscience clean
Perfect nights never seem to be as perfect in the morning and regret is a plague that haunts this house
Two days from now i will have left this street behind but the memories of broken parents will linger until the day that i die
I often wonder if they were ever in love??

Sorry about the lack of posts

lately you have been looking through me like i was never there
and lately i have been wishing that maybe i never was
im dying to feel alive cause lately i have been dying on my feet
and im left wondering why wont this summer fucking end
i have been draging myself into hopeless situations
pushing down feelings that actually might mean something
for the sake of what others will think
when did life become so complicated

Hello Dublin

Its been a while since i updated this. Im not sure if its because im really busy or really lazy. Maybe its a bit of both.

Since i last posted we finished tour.
Tour was awesome. We got to see a bunch of beautiful countries, got to meet some awesome people and got to play some cool shows. What more could you want. We are heading out again on the 19th of september with our good friends Forced out and im stoked to get back on the road.

Since i have got home things have been chaotic. I just realized that we got home a month ago today. It seems like a lot longer. I have been working a fair bit when i can. I still hate my job but fuck it. Who doesnt??

Have Heart, Shipwreck and Rise and Fall played here last week and it was for sure the best show to ever happen in Dublin. It was good to hang out with those dudes again. Im booking flights to Boston for the last show this week i hope. haha need to get that booked while i have the cash.
Speaking of flights, i booked my flights to ieperfest last night. Stoked on another weekend in Belgium.

The Mongoloids and New Morality played here on monday night. Both bands were awesome but the attendance was not. Im not gonna give out about people not turning up. It would be silly for people to go see bands they dont like and all that jazz. Thank you so much if you did make it out though. I dont give a shit about losing money. i always expected to lose money putting on hardcore shows. It just sucked for the bands not getting to play to lots of people. So if you are wondering why i was bummed out after the show now you know why.

The Wonder Years arrive this day next week. You can catch us at the beach on wednesday, in Portlaoise on thursday and in Dublin on Friday. We will be partying. Good times will be had!

I dont think i have anything else i want to talk about so i will leave it at that.

Thanks to anyone that still reads this.

Happy Birthday Glauce.

Im On Tour

We have a day off today and we are in Nottingham hanging out at Tom and Beccas.

all the shows so far have been sweet with last night being my favourite so far.

i hadnt really planned on blogging much but last night matt from dungeons car got boxed in after the show and a bunch of us went down and lifted it out. for some reason i thought it would be extremely difficult but we lifted it fairly easily. we obviously all thought that it was the funniest thing in the world at the time.

i have some how managed to sleep like 18 hours a day and im still tired all the time.

some creep at the show last night thought rory was Aboriginal. it was so fucking funny. he then tried to make out with lee.

we also got a flat tyre and a parking ticket, haha. oh life.

i will be posting loads of pictures on my myspace.

Maybe a big update.

So the Famine album came out. Cheers if you picked one up.

The release weekend was easily the most fun i have ever had.
Lees house showwas my highlight for sure.

i laughed so hard that night.

We played an all ages show on sunday and it was class. i had the best time before during and after the show.
here are some pics, none of them feature bands or anything haha.

I can talk to her about anything <3

Tour starts on thursday and im stoked to see so many new places. i will try and update this as much as i can.

Saturday, May 2, 2009

maybe im destined to drown with the rest of my kind, haha.

More of that later, im to sick for that shit.

The Famine album is out on friday. That seems so strange to me. but im am so stoked for it. the locked in lads arrive on thursday and we will have a good time for sure.

I have actually started to write again????? haha

After all these years it seems that nothings changed
but i just cant seem to feel the same about this place
this place always seems to get me down
just like you used to
i hear its normal to grow to hate the place that you grew up and i think thats because it reminds you of how you used to be before life became so fucked
i always brace myself for the worst and act as if falling down never really mattered at all
but im more fragile than i look and brave faces never suited me
this town goes on forever but i can only go on for so long and now i see that our hearts are not as indestructable as i once thought
i am not happy
but who truely is??
we are living hollow lives in hollow towns

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

i came apart today as i drowned the past in the pouring rain
i miss myself and i miss my best friend
lately it seems like the music is starting to fade
and all the voices of all the kids i used to know are just distant memories of summers gone by
maybe im getting to old for this
all the times i spent staring out of broken windows onto broken city street reminds me that i used to be able to feel something
but i dont feel anything
when i run out of words to write and there are no fault lines left for me to fight i just want to hear my best friends voice

An Actual Update

Dont hold your breath, haha.

I have 2 days off work! Can i get a HELL YEAH!!

Today im going to Kilcoole to mix the Young Wolves Demo. we might have a song up tonight or tomorrow!

I get to see Bane tomorrow which im super stoked about!!

Life. haha where to begin.
Shit isnt great. It hasnt been great for a while now. For some reason i have stopped leaving the house unless its for work or practice. I keep having such weird dreams and im really not sure what to think about them. i know everyone goes through shit like this from time to time so will leave it at that.

Im going on tour in less than a month and im so stoked to clear my head and see some amazing place. We are hitting Germany, Holland, Scotland, England, France, Italy and maybe a couple more countries! Im seriously so excited! Our friends in Locked in are gonna show us all the sights in Italy!

The Forced Out Demo is up check it out!!

Thursday, April 16, 2009

I have not had any time to update this because of my crazy work schedule. But my best friend told me to update it so thats what im doing haha.

I got back from tour on like the 25th of march. I had a blast. It was a great time with the best dudes! i didnt sleep in the van nearly as much as i expected to.

Since i have got back i have had like 2 days off work. It has been rough and im not off again until tuesday. but i get to see Bane 2 days in a row so that will rule!

im going to watch the never ending story now.

Happy Easter

i cant feel anything but grief and ive been running on empty these past 10 weeks
i gave you everything and you never even noticed me struggling
im not sure if i ever mattered
if i will ever matter
if there are even any answers to the questions that i have been asking
love never made sense to me
and life was never as confusing as it was last year
i never had the heart to tell me friends that im fucking dead
that i just cant bring myself to make pointless fucking conversation anymore
if i love anything its the quiet that the noise brings
an the ringing in my ears is the only thing that tell me that im alive
you see i stay in most nights and look out at the city lights
and realize that im losing my fucking mind.

We played in newport last night and it was a decent buzz. We went to
me pub after and it was pretty funny. We sang loads of Irish ballads
and it was really funny. The staff hated us haha. Last night lee brown
shores louder than anyone I have ever met. Like it was so loud that he
woke richs sister who was sleeping upstairs. Rich had to switch rooms
with her because she couldn't sleep because lee was so loud. Haha it
was impossible to sleep. We are off to southampton in a while.

Fanta of the World

New flavour number one!

We had a delicious 7 hour drive today!!

Im currently sitting in Rory from Break The habits house at the moment with Jack and Glenn. We are having the laugh.

The show tonight ruled. Break the habit were awesome and i enjoyed our set and all.

But more importantly i tried 2 new flavours of fanta today. Pics and details to come tomorrow.

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

So i made it across the sea in one piece, haha.

The ferry was strangely empty and took over 4 hours, fuck me.

im currently lying on the floor in glenns house covered by about 20 blankets, haha. we are meant to leave in half an hour but im the only one awake haha.

we played loads of virtua tennis on the ferry. lugosi was amazing at it.

Saturday, March 14, 2009

FUCK THE IRISH SEA!! Build a fucking bridge or something.
We leave for tour tomorrow and im seriously dreading the ferry.
When we went on tour with Famine last August i spent 4 hours puking hard. it was the worst experience of my life.

All that being said im really looking forward to tour. The last few months have been hard to say the least. I have been crazy busy. as im sure anyone that tried to hang out with me will tell you, i just didnt have the time and now that i have started to book a few more gigs i just dunno how much free time im gonna have. I may have to cut back on something, sure we will wait and see.

I have grand plans of posting blogs while on tour, haha i wonder what the chances of that are.

Im on a serious Ataris buzz at the moment. I went to see Kris Roe acoustic yesterday and it was so good! He played all the hits.

Ok im about to go and update the Young Wolves blog with some lyricsso i will leave it at that.

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

So today has been my first day off since last Saturday and im in again tomorrow and not off until the 9th when i head to Wales for the SYB release show and sweet hangouts with Rich and his Ghost. Then i have a straight run in work till we go on tour. I really cant wait to get out of here, my head is all over the place at the moment.
Today was shaping up to be such a good day but stuff didnt pan out and i just sat here in the worst mood. Im really confused at the moment and im just not sure what to think so tour is the perfect chance to get away from everything. I never want a day off again if its gonna be like this, haha. Id rather have a horrible day while earning some money.

Young Wolves are playing tomorrow if you re interested.

I really cant wait for this week to be over! It has been long. Today is my 6th day in a row. Im starting to feel it.

I should go do some work.

Strange Dreams

I didnt get much sleep last night. I have been having fucked up dreams all week. I keep dreaming about someone that i dont know. Its so strange and has me a bit all over the place.

My phone is killing me. I need to turn it off and forget everything. People not replying to txts actually makes me insane. haha.

Anyone wanna meet me in town for the Villa match this evening??? Kick off is at 5.

Let me know.

Right im gonna go into work early. Bye.

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

Im going on tour in a couple of weeks with find a way.

OK the football is starting soon. i hope everyone is well.

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Its nearly 9am. I couldnt sleep last night. It sucked. I had a lot to think about. So many question. Not many answers. I really have no idea what im doing but it seems to have got me through so far. My last day of recording in Kilcoole is fast aproaching. Who knows when i will be back. But i think its for the best. Its time to get back to my real life. Everything is so chaotic at the moment. This is the first bit of time i have had to myself in week and im meant to be in work haha. I think maybe a change needs to be made. Hard decisions to follow.

This song got me through the night:

The clock struck twelve
Time flies when you're stuck in last year

A person never meant
The power he holds was so clear
But lightning, lightning crashes here
Lightning crashes here

What's getting me through tonight? (tonight, tonight)
Gripping tightly, to the thought of being home.
(The thought of being home)
Think about your headphones
Think about your bike
In the parking lot we were...
We were recorded that night!

Each thump I hear
Will coincide with this
That I hold near
(That I hold dear)
To nothing

Are you feeling happiness?(x2)

Forget my needs
They are slowly closing in on me
It's guaranteed
I'm overreacting

The clock struck twelve
time flies when you're stuck in last year

A person never meant
The power he holds was so clear
But lightning, lightning

What's putting me in tonight? (tonight, tonight)
Gripping tightly, to the thought of being yours.
(The thought of being yours)
Think about your shackles
Think about your rights
Stomping hard, behind bars
Dislodging ears of solemn nights (solemn nights)

Killing the moods
Is my forte
Extremely immense
I stalk my prey
Are you feeling happiness?
'Cause I'm sure life's about being pissed.

Killing the moods
Is my forte
Extremely immense
I stalk my prey
Are you feeling happiness?
'Cause I'm sure life's about being pissed.

Are you feeling happiness?
Are you feeling happiness?
Are you feeling happiness?
'Cause I'm sure life's about being pissed...

Dublin Bus

Im getting a bit sick of overly packed buses on my way home from work. so yesterday instead of heading home i went to town and hung out with nelly and downtown for a few hours. the laughs were had. So at like 9 i went to get a bus. i waited for a few mins and eventually jumped on a 19. i was chilling upstairs listening to Death is not Glamorous and i noticed the bus had stopped and everyone was going downstairs. so i jumped up and headed downstairs and i was greeted by the sight of a broken window and a kid in a wheelchair covered in glass. i was just so shocked. some scum bag had thrown a rock at the bus and shattered the window.

is this what this city has come to?? was it always this bad??
i always thought that dublin was an ok place to grow up but im not so sure id want to raisea family here now.

Monday, February 9, 2009

Im exhausted. i just want to jump into bed and sleep for a month haha. But i cant. im basically working 34 out of the next 37 days before Find a way go on tour. it will suck. but these are the things that need to be done to enable me to afford to do what i love and i have no problem with that.

this is where i will be:
Mar 17 - Find A Way UK Tour With Break The Habit + Cutting Class, BRIGHTON
Mar 18 - Find A Way UK Tour With Break The Habit + Cutting Class, NEWPORT
Mar 19 - Find A Way UK Tour With Break The Habit + Cutting Class, SOUTHAMPTON
Mar 20 - Find A Way UK Tour With Break The Habit + Cutting Class, LEEDS
Mar 21 - Find A Way UK Tour With Break The Habit + Cutting Class, SUNDERLAND
Mar 22 - Find A Way UK Tour With Break The Habit + Cutting Class, NOTTINGHAM

Im excited to get into that van again and just drive. Fingers crossed that we will have the 7 inch out by then.

Im so broke at the moment its crazy. The reason for my lack of money is because i was extremely sick in mid January and as a result i missed 9 days of work which sucked because i was about to take the guts of 2 weeks off to record the Famine album and the Young Wolves Demo. So here i am back in work and broke, haha. I get paid for 2 days i ended up working somewhere in the middle there on thursday so i should have enough to cover what i owe for recording at least. haha i have also commited to working every single day in April, i wonder how that will turn out.

The Famine album is finished and im in love with how it sounds, we spent so much time on it and put in a lot of hard work and i hope it shows. It was so strange to finally record songs we had been playing for a while! The release show should be on the 8th of May. Line up and all that stuff in the next couple of weeks.

I got to hang out with Tracy a bit this weekend and we had the best time. im hoping for more days like that. Mooneys at half 3.

I have another 2 hours of work left. its really cold. i can def see myself being in bed by 10 tonight.

Its Snowed In Dublin Last Night

What is it about snow that makes everything seem a little bit better?? We recorded the Famine album this week. I love how it sounds. Im going back to do vocals on thursday and friday, then on saturday and sunday we are recording the young wovles demo.

I cant get this song out of my head.

Step out the front door like a ghost
into the fog where no one notices
the contrast of white on white.
And in between the moon and you
the angels get a better view
of the crumbling difference between wrong and right.
I walk in the air between the rain
through myself and back again
Where? I don't know
Maria says she's dying
through the door I hear her crying
Why? I don't know
Round here we always stand up straight
Round here something radiates
Maria came from Nashville with a suitcase in her hand
she said she'd like to meet a boy who looks like Elvis
she walks along the edge of where the ocean meets the land
just like she's walking on a wire in the circus
she parks her car outside of my house
takes her clothes off
says she's close to understanding Jesus
she knows she's more than just a little misunderstood
she has trouble acting normal when she's nervous
Round here we're carving out our names
Round here we all look the same
Round here we talk just like lions
But we sacrifice like lambs
Round here she's slipping through my hands
Sleeping children better run like the wind
out of the lightning dream
Mama's little baby better get herself in
out of the lightning
She says It's only in my head
She says Shhh I know it's only in my head
But the girl in car in the parking lot
says "Man you should try to take a shot
can't you see my walls are crumbling?"
Then she looks up at the building
and says she's thinking of jumping
She says she's tired of life
she must be tired of something
Round here she's always on my mind
Round here hey man got lots of time
Round here we're never sent to bed early
And nobody makes us wait
Round here we stay up very, very, very, very late

A conversation with tracy yesterday made me listen to the counting crows all morning. i love this band.
Does anyone want to do anything before this gig???

Its 6am and i have no idea why im awake.

this city

Im sitting in a internet cafe in town. I have young wolves practice in an hour.

I went to see this movie with Jack this morning. Im sure loads of people will hate it but i loved it.

After the movie Jack headed home so i just spent an hour walking around listening to music. It felt strangly refreshing.
Life is good. Im stoked on this year.
I cant make my mind up about someone.

She And Him

I have had the best weekend!
I got up at 8am on friday morning and woke jack up and we headed to the airport to meet Rich, Ben, Webbo, Adam, Tom and Bobby. We headed back to Glasvegas and chilled. We just caught up and shit. Ha i somehow managed to split a deck of cards and pull out the ace of spades when tom asked me. It was the greatest thing i will ever achieve in life, haha.

We went to the show at like 6 and waited around for ages. We played table tennis and the lads played cricket while me and Rich chowed down. After waiting around for what seemed like forever the show started. I couldnt really hear anything during the young wolves set but it was alright i guess. Save Your Breath were awesome, i had the best time! Everyone pre order the EP! The Guns Up! cover was fun. I really enjoyed the Find A Way set, sure its always a laugh. After the show me, Webbo, tom and ben got a taxi back to the house and we didnt get chip kebabs or 2 bottles of fanta! Bobby got a bit wild and i had to give him a yellow card, haha.

We got up crazy early the next morning and headed to town. on the way in Bobby spotted a crazy naked man and it turned out to be the naked guitar playing cowboy from new york. A few laughs were had!

We hit Dorans and myself and Rich set up shop while the lads sound checked. I dunno why i find it so funny but i laughed hard everytime we sold a really large shirt to a really small girl!! The SYB set was so sweet, the place was packed and kids were going crazy! Wally, Rich and myself moshed from the side of the stage! A bunch of us went back to glasvegas and after a few people headed to town the rest of us sat around for hours just talking, it ruled so much.

I left pretty late and it sucked getting up for work this morning.

So yeah basically i had a sweet weekend.
Highlights include:
Hanging with the lads again.
Getting to see my best friend lots :) i dont see her enough!
That amazing bus driver
listening to this girl sing lots

We start recording the FF album tomorrow! im so stoked to get it done and im stoked for hangouts and conversations about ridic stuff! haha.

Im going to watch the Royal Rumble now! Fuck Yeah!!!

You need to watch this movie. It is seriously so amazing!
No spoilers. Just watch it.

A week

Im back in work today after 9 days out sick. Its not so bad. Considering how sick i was it was such a busy week. I played 3 shows and had 4 practices. I really dont know how i turned up to the Carrier let alone sang.

I dont really think im bothered talking about the past week. You all know what happened. Read Mac Kells blog, haha. The highlight of my week was hanging out with Wally. We dont get to hang out that often anymore so it was class to just chill and have the chats. She will be the next Sonia O Sullivan soon!

So the next few weeks for me seem to be all about recording. Im recording some acoustic stuff this week which im fairly nervous about. Then this day next week we start recording the FF album, im so stoked for it. Then the weekend after that we are recording the YW Demo. Also stoked.

It snowed while i was on the way home from practice the other night. it felt incredible just to be standing there looking up and my walk home after i got off the bus was so good. Im just a kid at heart.

I was at that party in Joes the other night. I had an alright time, i just stood in this shed thing and had the laugh listening to raveand stuff. I met Brians girlfriend Alice for the first time and she was lovely, Nearly as nice as Brian, haha. Jack dropped me home after it which was so nice of him, love you bro.

I have not had many customers today. mostly teas and coffees and such. one woman bought a sandwich.

Role Models

I have been really busy as of late with band stuff and work. I have the weekend off work which is nice. Im gonna watch the Villa game tomorrow, Hang out with Lainey and then watch some nfl. Then i have practice and The Effort on Sunday. It will be the 2nd Young Wolves show so im excited.

Alex put on a gig in the Temple last week and it was sweet. Im really into the venue. It was the first Young Wolves show, I don't think many people were into but sure i enjoy it and thats the most important thing at then moment. I didn't really expect many people to be into considering its not hardcore. Plagues were good, the masks were a good touch but i cant believe that lad stood on my cab, fucking hell man, you can't be doing that. Sheep Dip were good to. I really enjoyed the Find A Way set, i always do. Overall sweet gig.

After the gig we headed out to Foxys for the NFL!! The Chargers did the business! Foxys brother came in during the game and saw Cindys wagon wheel at his feet and the conversationwent a little bit like this.
"the fucking size of that pizza"
Cindy: "yeah its huge man i couldnt finish it"
"oh so you thought you would tuck into your tub of ice cream instead"
Cindy: ......

We laughed a lot. oh then he came back in and told Cindy his hat was on crooked.

He turned out to be a good lad though.

I ended up getting home close to 6am and i was up and at practice by 11am. After practice i headed back to Foxys for the Ravens game. I destroyed Mac kell at Proev before hand, haha.

I went to see Role Models last night and fuck it amazing. I seriously laughed hard for the whole thing.

Come to The Carrier on the 14th.

I guess i will start by saying that 2008 was maybe the best year of my life thus far. I had a crazy amount of fun this year.

The first major event that i can remember was the Blacklisted, Shipwreck and Soul Control show. The main man billy27 made the trip over for the show and the laugh was had. Blacklisted are easily my favourite band in hardcore today. Theshow ruled so much and it was the start of an amazing year for Dublin hardcore. Billy split his head open during shipwreck, So me, Billy and Lee spent the night in the hospital with extremely funny results. 2 junkie lads were having the laugh and some woman in a celtic jersey kept getting sick in a bucket and we couldnt help but laugh hard at that. The next day we got the bus up to Belfast with Glenn and Gav for the show up there and even though there was no-one there we had a class time.

I think the next even was the Save Your Breath/All Or Nothing/Find A Way tour. Fuck me we partied that weekend. Dylan drove FAW on that tour and my lasting memory of that tour will always be listening to 90s dance on the drive from belfast to Dublin.
The Greystones show on that tour still stands out as the best of the 3. It was maybe my favourite FAW show ever. Im really good friends with the lads in SYB and AON as a result of that tour and im stoked to call them friends.

Find A Way - Greystones Scout Den

I think it was just after this show that Jon Boyce joined Forging Friendships. I really dont know what would hve happened to the band without that lad.

March saw To Kill from Italy come to Ireland. Dylan drove them on this tour and i jumped in the van and all. To Kill are one of the nicest bands i have ever met. All the shows on this tour were awesome, but the show in the Hideaway House sticks out as being amazing! So many people in such a small room going crazy! Galway was also awesome. I love that city so much. I remember after the show we stayed in Claras house. I was sharing a room with Dylan and when i came out of the bathroom he was standing there wearing a completely see through dress. I fell to the floor laughing. I remember when we got up the next morning i looked out the window and the whole place was covered in snow. I just remember driving home looking at this amazing scenery and feeling completely at peace or something.

Later on in March myself and Chris traveled to Belgium for the last Justice show. The line up was Justice, Blacklisted, True Colors, Dirty Money, Seed Of Pain and Hoods Up. It was maybe the best show i have even been to. We stayed in this mad hotel called the billiard palace. it was weird!!haha

haha somewhere in there we went to the UK to play From The Heart Fest. It was a good weekend and it was class to hang out with the Black Friday 29 guys again.

Guns Up were meant to play here in may and i missed the First Death tour cause i was broke, FUCK LIFE.

In June i put on Comeback Kid with the lads and its safe to say that it was the most packed show of the year. All the lads put in some hard work and it paid off. We traveled to Galway the next day for the show and it was the first time FF had played there and we seemed to go down fairly well!

I think next up was No Turning Back. They played 3 shows here but i only made it out to 2 of them. Solid band, Good dudes. The Dublin show ruled. Jacks birthday party that weekend ruled.

Pretty soon after that came Demented Fest. Macker has been doing a solid job for a few years now! Keep it up son!
What a class weekend! The Highlight was the last Another Day in Hell show. Although it was really sad to see them go it was an amazing show!
I cant really talk much more about that weekend cause i dont really remember much. haha.

In August Forging Friendships were in the UK with Everyday Hell and Dungeons and i had the most amazing time. I formed some solid friendships with the dudes in those bands and i can’t wait to see them again. You would think that sleeping in the back of a van for 2 weeks would suck but it actually turned out to be pretty comfortable. The dudes from Everyday Hell loved to get naked so it made for extremely funny times. The tour overall went so much better than i expected. Most of the shows were packed and we shifted a lot of Demos. BUT i fucking died on the ferry both times! FUCK ME! We also got to play the Deal With It LP release show and it was sweet. Such a pity they broke up. Ben and Jen from Denver were on the tour with us for a while and i can safely say that i miss them both a lot, Come visit soon guys. We got to play a couple of shows with Ritual and Union town to which ruled, Solid guys and girl.

Like aweek after we got back from tour i went to Ieperfest with the lads. What a class weekend! Hang outs with old friends and great music. what else could you want! uiner, Betrayed, Have Heart, Verse, Shipwreck and Counting The Days were all amazing!! It was class to catch up with all the people i aint seen in a while.
Haha it was muddy as fuck though and i managed to lose a shoe in the mud!
haha stoked for next year.

In September Lally, Jack and myself put on a show for Deal With It. The show itself ruled and sweet hangouts were had. Its such a pity they broke up.

Everything after that is a blur until the moshspace anniversary. One of the best shows of the year for show and def the best one with a local line up. One of my favourite FF sets ever and at that point maybe my favourite.

My birthday was a few days after that and everyone headed to Fibbers and the laugh was had. It was my favourite night out of the year for sure. Jack and Ciara bought me the best pair of nike! I LOVE YOU GUYS!

Like a week later Ceremony played in the Boom Boom Room. Despite it being the worst venue the show was amazing! So many people going crazy. I had the biggest smile on my face the whole way home.

DECEMBER!!! haha i have been writing this since 11.
I had the best December ever! Dirty Money in the temple was fucking so sweet! it was so fucking packed to!
A couple of days after that FF did a 3 day tour with Verse starting of in Galway. Verse are one of my favourite bands in hardcore today so it was sweet to get to see them 3 days in a row. The Dublin show was my favourite for sure! Everyone went crazy and i still get chills thinking about it. It was def my favourite FF set ever. After the show i got talking to Matteo and Glauce from Hurry UP! Records and after a bunch of e-mails we signed with them. To say that we are stoked would be an understatement. It just opens up so many doors for us with regards to touring and having a record released world wide. Add in the fact that Matteo and Glauce are 2 of the nicest people i have ever met and itsthe perfect fit. Im stoked to get the record out and to go everywhere! 2009 will rule!

The last show of the year was Have Heart in Ruaille Buaille. Def my new favourite venue and maybe my favourite Dublin hardcore show ever.

So there you have it. I spent new years eve in bed sick.
I met a lot of amazing people this year and i let go of some dead weight. I think the most important thing i learned is to stop caring about what others think.

People will always talk shit, people will always try to put down the acomplishments that you have made, but in the end your friends will still be your friends and even though ladders are meant to be climbed there is no room for ladders in my life and the most important piece of this puzzle is not the kid up on that high horse its the kids that no-one knows that comes to every single show, we can create the veins but they are useless without the blood that fills them.

Im stoked for 2009!!!

Ian James Kelly.
